Shimon Schocken, Instructor

My life evolves around two passions: computer science education and mountain biking. Both involve a unique mix of engineering, elegance, and hard word. And in both areas, the most important element is not the machine, but the human spirit behind it. Great technologies are based on great science, and great science is based on logic, discipline, and innovation -- that's what this course is all about. I've been teaching and biking for many years, but every time I enter the class or start climbing a mountain I feel butterflies in my stomach. That's what keeps me going ...
Boaz Kantor, TA

I will be the one to help you practice what you learn from Prof. Schocken.
I'm a graduate, just as you will be, of the Computer Science BA program in IDC. I have lived inside computers since 1984. Aside my nerdish side, I love exploring the world, I love mountains, I snowboard and practice Japanese martial arts. I'm also deeply involved in startups and entrepreneurship.
I am very strict with computer education and usually write hard-to-solve exercises, just for you. But I also bring another side to IDC, which is 15 years of experience in the industry. You will get bits and bytes of how software engineering is implemented in Israeli high-tech companies.
Let's all learn from each other, and have fun while we're at it :)

Steven Karas, Tutors supervisor

I moved to Israel in 2005 from Wisconsin to join the IDF. After my military service I started studying Computer Science at the IDC Herzliyah. Recently, I founded a startup called Northern Crane Ltd that builds custom software solutions for small and medium businesses. In my spare time I grade homework for the Intro2CS course at the IDC and watch silly videos on the internet.
Shlomi Babluki, Tutor

Hi, I'm Shlomi, and here are a few things that you might need to know:
I'm a 2nd year computer science student in the IDC.
In the last 3 years I worked as an independent software developer. During my work
I already developed some very challenging & interesting projects for big companies like "YES","Egged" and "the Ministry of transport".
Besides computers, I love sport, the "Chuck" TV show and "Moses late night" :)
I'm here to make your first steps in the programming world easy as possible.
Don't hesitate to ask me any question you have!
Good Luck!

Asa Ben Efraim, Tutor

My name is Asa - like the King, or the steakhouse - whatever is closer to your heart. I'm a 2nd year student in CS here in the IDC, having a blast. In my not so distant past I was a Barrett sniper in Shimshon, Gaza graduate. Loves to collect stamps in my passport, hiking, computers (a real surprise, I know), and cats - but only my own Siberians - Oscar and Scarlett. Another neglected hobby are old horror/gore and B-movies, and the darker side of music. You can contact me with any problem, you will find I'm always glad to help.
Jeremy Aboohi, Tutor

I began to study at IDC last year and like some of you don't have much background in programming, but thanks to hard work I joined the course team. Studying computer science isn't the only thing that I'm doing in my life I play football, ride a bike, in my spare time working at Arcaffe Ramat Aviv (by the way I make great coffee) and of course don't forget enjoy life is something I recommend you guys to do well despite the difficulty in the first year. So for every question that you have I'm here (and not only because I get money for this).
Yoav Amit, Tutor

Hi, I'm Yoav and I'm a 2nd year C.S. student in IDC (we love you, Yoav).
For the past 2 years I've been working for an internet security firm called Trusteer as a server developer and malware analyst.
Besides being a complete geek, I also like to ride my trustworthy dirt-bike, play the guitar (mostly blues) and listen to music.
And on that note “To play the blues, you gotta' have the blues” - Eric Clapton, and to have the blues... you'll see.
